Schuylkill Township
is located along the Schuylkill River
on the eastern border of Chester County
in southeastern Pennsylvania.

The township covers 9.44 square miles.
Population at the 2010 census was 8,516.

The Schuylkill River forms the township's
northern boundary, and Mount Misery
(also known as Valley Forge Mountain)
is the southern boundary. To the east is
Valley Forge National Historical Park.
The Borough of Phoenixville lies to the north
and west.

Changes in the Collection of Earned Income Taxes
Act 32 of 2008 amends the Local Tax Enabling Act to require the county-wide consolidated collection of earned income tax (EIT). See the attached notice for details.
The Chester Tax Collection Committee (CTCC) recently appointed Keystone Collections Group to serve as the Earned Income Tax (EIT) and Local Services Tax (LST) collector for school and municipal taxing authorities within Chester County. More information >>>

Please note that taxes being filed by residents or businesses with Keystone Collections should contain the correct Political Subdivision (PSD) codes. For reference, use this listing from the PA Department of Community & Economic Development of codes for every school district in Pennsylvania.

BUDGET MEETING
SCHUYLKILL TOWNSHIP
PROPOSED 2019 BUDGET

No tax increase proposed.
The Board of Supervisors will consider adoption of the 2019 proposed budget at the December 5, 2018 Board meeting. The Board proposes no tax increase for 2019. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

2019 DRAFT Budget Summary

CREEK ROAD BRIDGE TO CLOSE
Chester County to Make Repairs to Failed Wing Wall

Chester County has determined that the wing wall which supports the Creek Road bridge has failed and requires immediate repair. The Creek Road bridge (Chester County Bridge No. 175) will be closed on or about October 15, 2018. The repair work will take approximately 8 weeks, weather permitting.

There will be no access to or from State Road (Route 29) on the western end of Creek Road. Traffic will be detoured around the construction site along State Road (Route 29), Pothouse Road and White Horse Road (see detour map here). Creek Road will remain open at White Horse Road during the bridge repair.

McCormick Taylor has been retained by Chester County as the project coordinator.


Conditional Use Appeal

On April 18, 2018,the Board of Supervisors rendered their decision on the Whitehorse-Phoenixville LLC (Wawa) conditional use applications.  The BOS decision may be found here.
Whitehorse Road-Phoenixville LLC has filed an appeal of the decision. The appeal documents are available here for review. (12.6 MB PDF)

TOWNSHIP PROJECTS

Freedom Trail
The Township is currently studying a developing a trail connecting Valley Forge Park to Phoenixville Borough. A draft feasibility study updated in August 2016 is available here to view or download (75 mb PDF file). The study is currently under review by the Chester County Planning Commission.

Sidewalk Feasibility Study
The Township is currently studying the installation of sidewalks in certain locations. A draft feasibility study updated on May 26, 2016 is available via the links below for viewing and downloading:
